Measure height and floor space
Measure from the floor to the ceiling where the tree will stand. Allow for the topper and any raised platform. Check whether the stated tree height includes the stand, and compare the widest branch diameter with the space you have available.
Mark that diameter on the floor with removable tape. Leave room for doors, furniture, walkways, and presents. Keep the display clear of heat sources. If the tree goes on a table, include the table height in the overall measurement.
Choose a shape and foliage finish
A full tree creates a broad centerpiece. A slim or pencil shape takes less floor space, while a half or flatback design may suit a wall position. Mini and tabletop trees work in smaller rooms, entrance areas, or on a stable surface. Read the width for the exact height you select because sizes in the same collection can have different proportions.
Look at close-up branch photographs. Molded PE foliage and cut-needle PVC have different textures, and many trees combine them. Tip count helps you compare trees alongside their width and branch arrangement; it is not a complete measure of realism or fullness on its own.
Flocked trees have a snowy finish. Handle that finish gently and check the care instructions; some loose flocking or glitter can shed during handling. An unflocked green tree gives you a different base for changing decoration colors over time.
Compare pre-lit and unlit trees
A pre-lit tree has lights arranged on the branches. Check the selected light color, number of LEDs, controls, available effects, and any replacement guidance. An unlit tree lets you choose the light set and change it separately.
Warm white, cool white, and multicolor create different displays. A product photo may show one effect or variation, so read what the chosen option actually includes. Some trees offer several colors or modes; others have one fixed color.
Plan how you will reach the plug and controls. Check the lead length and whether the product includes its stand, power supply, transformer, foot pedal, or remote. Read the Christmas Light Buying Guide for more detail.
Check electrical compatibility before purchasing
Confirm the voltage, plug type, frequency where specified, and required power components. A product sold on this site should still be checked against the electrical supply at its intended location. A travel adapter changes a plug shape; it does not necessarily convert voltage or make an incompatible product safe to use.
For connectable lights, match the product series, power supply, connectors, and maximum permitted run. Do not mix components simply because the connectors look similar. Contact us before buying if a listing does not provide the electrical detail you need.
Choose decorations that suit the tree
Use the branch spacing and strength to guide ornament size and weight. A few larger ornaments can form focal points, with smaller pieces filling the spaces between them. Check pack quantities and dimensions, especially when a photograph shows several items together.
Wired ribbon holds the outline of bows and loops. Compare its width and total roll length before ordering. For a topper, check weight, attachment, and the ceiling space you allowed above the tree. Photographed ornaments, ribbon, and gifts are not included with a tree unless the listing expressly says so.
Fit the stand, collar, skirt, and storage
Compare the collar’s top opening, base diameter, and height with the tree stand and any cables. A collar that looks right in a room photograph can still be too small for a particular stand. Check whether a collar must be positioned during tree assembly.
A skirt needs enough diameter for the look you want and room around the base. For storage, compare packed dimensions, section count, and bag capacity. Store a dry, undecorated tree with its lights and branches protected according to the supplied instructions.
Plan wreaths, garlands, and outdoor displays
Measure the surface and the drop you want before choosing garland length. A deep drape needs more length than a straight run. Check the wreath’s stated outer size, the fixing method, and the available space around a door or window.
Confirm indoor or outdoor suitability for every part of the display. Weather exposure, the supporting surface, the power supply location, and cable routing matter. Use fixings appropriate for the product and surface, and follow the stated installation limits.
Review the order before checkout
- Confirm the exact size, color, lighting option, and quantity in the cart.
- Read the included-parts list, dimensions, electrical details, and any product-specific warranty.
- Check the delivery estimate against the date you need the item. Free standard shipping covers all 50 states, but holiday arrival is not automatically guaranteed.
- Keep the packaging while you inspect the purchase. Our 30-day return-request policy requires eligible change-of-mind items to remain unused and complete.
