The Huras Family has made decorative glass ornaments for the past two decades. The business began in a small Polish city, where its future creative director and manager, John Huras, was studying music.

During Christmas, John and fellow conservatory students performed at an orphanage near their school. Seeing how few decorations hung on the children’s Christmas tree disappointed him. After the concert, he decided to make a special gift. Because his hometown had many glassblowers, he asked friends to help locate craftspeople who could translate his drawings into delicate glass forms.

He then needed experienced painters to decorate the ornaments. Bright colors and details that children would enjoy were important, and the process proved far more complicated than he had expected. The finished gifts delighted the children. That spontaneous holiday project became the beginning of a company that developed into a leading glass-ornament producer.

John’s family helped turn the new passion into a business. As creative director, he worked with them to learn more about ornament making and find skilled artisans. They soon opened a factory in their hometown in southern Poland, an area with an established glassblowing tradition.

International attention followed. The family began making ornaments for well-known brands and department stores across Europe and America. Today, it also shares that Christmas tradition directly with customers in the United States, where John found some of his earliest design inspiration.

The family still makes each glass ornament by hand with the same purpose behind John’s original gifts: bringing holiday enchantment into people’s lives and encouraging happy memories to cherish and share over many years.
